Bible Teaching - Contradictory verses in the Bible - Making Sense of the Bible

Wisdom

Wisdom is not about the knowledge of good and bad

Wisdom is about being Objective to hear from both sides of multiple sides.
Wisdom is about not taking side in the first place
Wisdom is about being Sharp (the sharpness in the ability to discern)

Example of King Solomon when 2 mother claiming that they are the mother of a child
Solomon listen with objectivity, he didn't take side in the first place. He created a scenario and let the outcome of the scenario be the judge the situation.

Example, the word is active and living, shaper than any double edged sword, penetrating into dividing souls and spirits........

It's is not about the sword, the sword is just being used to describe how sharp the word of God can be in term of discernment. Just like a pitch perfect person, when a note is being played on the keyboard, he is able to listen and able to name the note being played (Eg. D). Not only that, he is even able to tell which portion of the keyboard is being played (Eg. D5).

Sharpness is about the ability to discern.
Have a Kingdom mentality (Ask, is that Earthly VS Kingdom mentality)
Jesus is the Will of God in action (When Jesus died, God's Will become established and effective on earth for us)
The New Covenant (draw out a new contract) is the New Will (Better Promises of God that He made Himself obligated under His Own jurisdiction) of God.
This New Contract has been sealed and confirm in the blood of Jesus (This is the cup of the new covenant in the My Blood).
The high priest sprinkled blood on the people and on the furniture in order to cleanse the sin of all the people and the furniture in the temple.
When we drink of the blood of the Holy Com, the blood was not only sprinkled on us outwardly, but when we drink, this blood is sprinkled into us, in remembrance on Him and His finished work that all our sins are forgiven, our sins and lawlessness, He remember no more.

About Sin and Lawlessness

Matthew 7:24 New King James Version
And then (But) I will declare (tell plainly, reply, profess) to them, ‘I never knew you; depart (away) from Me, you who practice (work) LAWLESSNESS!’ (break God's Law, iniquity, Lawless Act or Deed)
- The Lawlessness here is Singular

Hew 10:17. Young's Literal Translation
and (And He adds) 'their sins and their lawlessness (Lawless Acts, Iniquities) I will remember no more;'
- The Lawlessness here is Plural (both Sins & Lawless Deeds)
- Here the bible is talking about earthly righteousness (right doing - that are visual to human eyes and judgement)

Eph 2:8-9 Amplified Bible (Justification verse)
8. For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;
9. not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

Heb 10:14 Amplified Bible (Sanctification verse)(Definition of Sanctification is made Holy or made Perfect)
For by the one offering He has perfected forever and completely cleansed those who are being sanctified [bringing each believer to spiritual completion and maturity](fully set apart for God).

Heb 10:15-17 (Fulfillment of Jer 31:33-34)
15. And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,
16. "This is the covenant that I will make with them in the days to come, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts and write them on their minds."
17. and (And He adds) 'their sins and their lawlessness (Lawless Acts, Iniquities) I will remember no more;'

Rom 2:9 New Living Translation
There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil (keeping Moses Law)—for the Jew (who are culturally love to keep Moses Law) first and also for the Gentile (Gentile or Greek believers who keep going back to Moses Law unknowingly or knowingly, or pressured into it).

Romm 22:10 New Living Translation
But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good (Observing and keeping Christ Law of LOVE)—for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.

Rom 2:12 Amplified Bible
For all who (Gentiles) have sinned without the Law (God's written Law) will also perish (destroy) without [regard to] the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law.

About Justified by Faith or Justified by Law

Definition of Saved (Salvation) is Justified
Definition of Justified
- is declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing (spiritual position) with God (Gal 3:24 AMP)
[actually delivered from judgment and given eternal lifethrough faith. And this [salvation] (Eph 2:8 AMP)

1 John 1:9 King James Bible
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Behavioral or Right Standing in God's sight)

If we continuous sinning or wilfully sinning, can also be referred as no confident in the blood of Christ can cleanse us once and for all and keep thinking that we have to keep on confessing our sin. If we blasphemy the work of the Holy Spirit (being a witness of the New Covenant), this can also be an unforgivable or unpardonable sin the await the fire of hell, even for the believers (no grace left to protect them)

Heb 10:26-27
26. For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for our sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate],
27. but a kind of awful and terrifying expectation of [divine] judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE and BURNING WRATH WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES [those who put themselves in opposition to God].

In God's sight
Does God look at our Earthly Behavior (shaky ground, no assurance, until the next sin) or our Right Standing (firmed ground, with full assurance, once and for all) to determine whether we can make it to Heaven and have Eternal Life?

Is Justification once and for all or until the next sin that we have had confessed?
Is 1 John 1:9 a verse for Justification (Salvation, right standing with God) and we will lose it, if we have unconfessed sins?

Rom 2:13 New King James Version
(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;

Rom 5:1 King James Bible
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Eph 2:8-9 Amplified Bible (Justification verse)(Definition of Saved or justified)
8. For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal lifethrough faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;
9. not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

Galatians 2:16
know that a man is not justified by works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

Gal 3:24 (The Purpose of the Law, that's why it has glory, it has end time)
So then, the law was our guardian (disciplinarian, trainer, schoolmaster, tutor) until Christ came (to lead (guide) us to Christ), in order that we might be justified [that is, declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with God] by faith.

About the Abolishing of the Law and the Fulfillment of the Law
Old Covenant vs New Covenant

Matt 5:17
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law (Tanakh (Old Covenant), The whole of Old Testament (Law of Moses and all the Prophecies) , not the Torah or Moses Law) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Heb 8:13 Amplified Bible
When God speaks of “A New Covenant,” He makes the first one (Old Covenant) obsolete. And whatever is becoming obsolete (out of use, annulled) and growing old is ready to disappear.

Luke 22:20
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Heb 10:15-17 (Fulfillment of Jer 31:33-34)
15. And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says,
16. “This is the New Covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
17. and (And He adds) 'their sins and their lawlessness (Lawless Acts, Iniquities) I will remember no more;'

The New Covenant was cut in Jesus Blood, not in Animal's Blood
The New Covenant is God remember our sins and lawlessness no more. the Old Covenant is done yearly so that their sins were being remembered.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the Definition of REPENTANCE

Romans 2: Is talking about people using Moses Law to pass judgement against believers who are living under Christ Law (under Grace and Truth)

Rom 2:7 New Living Translation
He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

Moses Law: Immorality will forfeit Immortality (eternal life)
Jesus Law: Those who are doing good works, good deeds (Love). Christ definition of Righteousness or Righteous Deeds or good works is LOVE. Those who operate under LOVE on earth, will not be judged by God

Rom 2:4 Amplified Bible
Or do you have no regard for the wealth of His kindness and tolerance and patience (LOVE) [in withholding His wrath]? Are you [actually] unaware or ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness leads you to repentance [that is, to change your inner self, your old way of thinking—seek His purpose for your life]?

New Living Translation
Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

Repentance:
- to change your inner self, your old way of thinking—seek His purpose for your life
- to turn you from your sin (singular) (New Living Translation)
- change the way you think and act (GOD'S WORD® Translation)
- leads you to conversion (Literal Standard Version)
- Believe in the Son (John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”)
- Believe that we are justified by faith, not by works (Galatians 2:16 know that a man is not justified by works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have believed in Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.)

Jesus Christ Law: Gospel (Good News)
- Love (God withholding His wrath), are you not aware that God's love lead us to repentance (change of mind from Moses Law to Jesus Christ Law, from Old Covenant to New Covenant)?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the Definition of SIN?

Is SIN breaking of the 10 commandm ents (the Moral Law)?

1 John 1:9 Amplified Bible
If we [freely] admit that we have sinned (is a verb, is not a noun) and confess our sins (this is a plural noun, behavioral wrong doing), He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].

for all have sinned (is a verb, is not a noun) and fall short of the glory of God,

Rom 6:23 Amplified Bible
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Gen 3:6
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

SIN here is the disobedience to the Commandment of God OR Cannot trust God enough in His word OR Human being wanted to be like God (in the image of God to to have the knowledge of good and evil)?

Satan: You shall not surely die
God: You shall surely die

- Who ate first? Eve
- What if Eve ate and Adam didn't eat?
- Why satan tempted Eve instead of Adam? Woman is more susceptible
- Why was the first knowledge of good and evil is nakedness?
- Was it because of nakedness a moral sin?
- Thank God that the garden of Eden was not at the North pole or the Antaticle

SIN (Singular) is breaking heavenly righteousness (breaking the Law of Jesus)
- simply no Love or the lack ot Love

.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the Definition of SIN?

Law of Jesus: Love (Heavenly righteousness)

Definition of sins (behavioral acts)
The purpose of the Sermon on the Mount is about comparing
- Moses Law vs Law of the Land (Civil and Criminal Law) vs Law of Jesus Christ

- Angry with a brother or sister (lack or no love)
Matt 5:22-23
21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

- Look lustfully at a woman (lack or no love for that person, for your wife)
Matt 5:27-30
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.29If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.30And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

- Divorce and re-marry is sin (lack of love to your ex-spouse, hurting or potentially hurting a person is lacking of love)
Matt 5:31-32
31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

- Promises (Lack of love if you break your promises)
Matt 5:33-37
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’34But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;35or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.36And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.37All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

- Eye for eye (Lack of love), But practice love instead
Matt 5:38-42
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.40And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.41If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

- To the extend of Loving your enemies
Matt 5:43-47
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’44But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,45that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?47And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

- Did God love satan (His enemy)? Why did God not destroy satan once and for all?
   - YES, that's why God has given satan many chances, chance after chance

Alternative Perspective (Another Perspective)
The Falling Glass Pane may be the work of satan and God protected with minimum injuries

About Jesus didn't come to give rules or religion, but to give life
It can also be interpreted that Joseph Prince is not saying that there is no rules and no religion, he is saying that "It's NOT ABOUT rules, regulation or religion, it's about LIFE and ABUNDANT LIFE"

About Religion
Whether we like it or not, in as much as Christians like to say Christianity is not a Religion, it is a Relationship. Religion is being used generally and widely to describe a person's belief in the NRIC and many other areas.

About Rules, Regulation, Commandments, Law
It can also be interpreted that Joseph Prince is not say there is no Rules and Law that contradicted the bible. The bible said that under the new covenant, God writes the rules and Law in every person's heart. That is, the Holy Spirit in a person will tell or instruct a person what is right or wrong belief and what is right or wrong to do. There is still rules and law that a person will follow if he or she flows with the Holy Spirit.

About Preaching Half Truth

Isaiah 61:1-2 NKJV
1. “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2. To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn

Luke 4:18-19 NKJV (Jesus read the scroll of Isaiah)
18. “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19. To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

Jesus deliberately stopped reading the day of vengeance of our God, by doing so, did Jesus preached Half Truth?

Why did Jesus stopped at the year of favor and stopped at the day of vengeance?

Luke:18:20 NKJV
And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Because the year of God's favor is now because of Jesus.

The day of the vengeance will only happen on Jesus' 2nd coming. The rest of the Isa 61 will be fulfilled at His 2nd coming. Let's enjoy the year of the favor of God now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did Jesus explicitly claim to be God?

Jesus is the Son of God doesn't mean that He is God
He called His Father God. My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?

I Am the way, the truth and the life, no one come to the Father but through Me. The Muslim claim that this verse doesn't make Jesus God, but a prophet. All prophets are the way, the truth and the life that points people to God.

John 8:58: "Jesus said to them, \"Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”". This is a key verse where Jesus makes a claim about his pre-existence and divine nature.

Moses asked God who He was. God answered, I AM

the Pharisees recognized that Jesus was claiming to be God, specifically through his claim of "I am," which they understood as an assertion of divine identity. In John 8:58, Jesus stated, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am," and the Pharisees, taken aback by this declaration, picked up stones to throw at him. They viewed this as blasphemy, an act of arrogance that was punishable by death.

John 10:30 states, "I and the Father are one." This verse is a declaration of unity between Jesus and God the Father, emphasizing their shared nature and purpose. The verse is often interpreted through the lens of the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, where God exists as a single being in three co-equal persons: Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.

Heb 1:6 (God allowed Jesus to be worshiped by angels)
And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”
Heb 1:8 (God called Jesus as God)
But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What About sharing Half Truth? Is Half Truth a lie?

About not reading and preaching the whole verse is half truth or stop reading or preaching at certain part of the scripture without completing them is half truth

What about Jesus? Was He sharing and preaching Half Truth when He read the scroll in the Synagogue when He deliberately stopped at the "Favorable year of the Lord" and didn't continue reading "The day of vengeance of our God" and He closed the scroll?

Original Prophesy about Jesus by Isaiah

Isaiah 61:1-2 New King James Version
1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,

When Jesus read the scroll in a Synagogue

Luke 4:18-20 New King James Version
18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Verse 21 is the most powerful when Jesus said "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.", which stopped at the favorable or acceptable year of the Lord without the day of vengeance of the Lord.

The truth is we are under grace, no longer under the vengeance of God. Your sins and lawlessness, I remember no more. Therefore, no more vengeance.

Is knowing in part is a Half Truth and when we share Half Truth become a lie?

1 Cor 13:9 New Living Translation
9 Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!

1 Cor 13:9-12 Amplified Bible
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part [for our knowledge is fragmentary and incomplete].
10 But when that which is complete and perfect comes, that which is incomplete and partial will pass away.
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
12 For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].

1 Cor 13:12 Berean Literal Bible
12 For presently we see through a glass in obscurity; but then, face to face. Presently, I know in part; but then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.
