Israel was rule by Judges with the help of the King of kings (God), but rejected God as King. (There were 12 judges in all; Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon and Samson)
