Can Foreigners, non SCs and non PRs purchase Medishield Life?
No. As Medishield can only be payable via Medisave, non SCs, non PRs and PRs who do not owns a CPF account will not be entitled to purchase Medishield Life. For SCs or PRs who do not owns a CPF account, their parents, spouses, children who owns a CPF account can purchase for them using CPF medisave.
Can I use Cash to purchase Medishield Life?
No. Medishield Life can only be paid via Medisave. Anyone who does not owns a CPF account, they can use cash to purchase H&S insurance or Shield plans from 5 private insurers.
What if the Medisave is insufficient or exited the limit that can be use to purchase Medishield Life?
The insured can top up by using cash.
What if insured wilfully refuse to pay premium?
This is not possible because Medishield Life is payable by Medisave. As Medishield Life is for B2 and C wards, hence, the premium is quite affordable. Premium can never be exceeding the allowable limit each individual is allowed to use to pay for the premium. If an insured purchased a ISP and exceeded the limit allowable for premium payment, the insured did not top up with cash, the private insurer's part will be terminated. However, the Medishield life will be remained covered.
